Shoot your bench, mark the BLACK LINE on the rod. Every reading in the app is inches UP or DOWN from that line — same as the Grade Shot Ledger.
Type any plan number (grade, rim, invert, TW/BW). Get the rod move from your black line.
YOU SET THE CORNERS. No pre-set letters. Tap any corner on the plan (building, wall, walk — anything) — the tap locks onto the EXACT plan coordinate — then hit MAKE THIS CORNER A. Letters run A, B, C… in the order you make them and never change. Tap a square again → REMOVE — or use LIST → MY POINTS → ✕. Set at least two and every pull works off YOUR points.
1 · TAP anything — light, drain, wall corner, purple grade. The card says which two corners to pull from and the two tape numbers. Where the tapes cross is the mark. Pulls stay under 100' (under 90' when possible) with a good crossing angle; the map draws both pull lines.
2 · FAR STUFF: drop one of your own points out there (stake + ribbon it) — its card shows the setting tapes from your other points, and then everything far pulls from it.
3 · GRADES: pick your zero (122.9 floor / 126.6 hot top / custom), shoot the bench, mark the black line. Cards + ROD button give inches UP/DOWN from the line. Subgrade chips (−6″ −8″ −12″…) for gravel checks.
4 · GRADE EVERYWHERE: tap ANYTHING — light, walk edge, wall corner — and you get the rod move. If the plan has no number right there, the app figures it (marked ≈) from the nearest plan grades and shows which ones it used. Tap a material chip (CONC −12″, ASPH −15″…) for TOP OF BASE and BOTTOM OF EX rod moves. ⚙️ edits your thicknesses.
5 · TOOLS: 📏 MEASURE point-to-point. ✏️ PEN freehand (one finger draws, two zoom). 📝 NOTE drops text. 📐 AREA taps around a shape → CLOSE → square feet; tap the area after for edge footage and DIG-OUT CUBIC YARDS at any depth. ✋ MOVE drags notes and SF labels out of the way. Drawings SAVE between opens.
4b · 📐 GRADE LINE — the honest grade between two spots: tap one plan grade, tap a second, and it runs a straight line between them (like a pipe). Tap any spot along it and it reads the grade THERE — straight-line between your two points, so a wall or curb nearby can't pull the number off. Use it when a spot's own estimate says "don't build off this" — pick the two real grades that bracket it. Reads land on the KEEP-ON-SCREEN cards.
4c · 📌 GRADE PIN + ☁️ SAVE: after the grade line reads a spot, hit 📌 GRADE PIN in the pink bar — that spot and its elevation lock into a permanent pin (its card shows YOUR grade, not an estimate). Two grade pins can then anchor a NEW grade line the other direction to chase the cross-slope. And the SAVE button in the header pushes ALL your work — pins, corners, notes, pinned numbers, calc, zero — to the cloud: set the day up on the computer in the morning, hit SAVE, and it's waiting on the iPad and phone when you open the app there. Latest save wins.
4d · 📌 MY POINTS list: LAYERS ▾ now has a MY POINTS section — every pin you've added, with the name you typed, each with its own ON/OFF so the plan stays clean. ALL ON / ALL OFF for the whole set, and SHOW ME jumps the map to that point and opens its card. A pin switched OFF stays saved (and synced) — it just doesn't draw or catch taps until you flip it back.
5a · 📝 NOTES + 📌 KEEP-ON-SCREEN NUMBERS: a NOTE drops a small tag you can drag anywhere (just touch it and slide — no MODE needed); a dashed line stays tied back to the spot it belongs to, so tuck them all in one corner. Tap a tag to delete it. And in the 🧮 CALC, hit 📌 KEEP THIS ON SCREEN to pin the rod number as a floating card — drag it, minimize it (▾), or close it (✕), and it stays put while you move the plan around to check other grades. Notes and pinned numbers both survive closing the app.
5b · ⭕ ROUND THINGS (footings, light bases): tap anywhere INSIDE the circle and you get its dead center — the exact CAD center, not the rim. Zoom in and a small blue cross marks it. Tapes, GPS walk-to and MAKE THIS CORNER all aim at that center.
5c · A PIN ANYWHERE: 📍 PIN normally snaps to the nearest CAD point. Hit 🧲 SNAP: ON in the pink bar to turn it OFF — then the pin lands exactly where your finger is, anywhere on the plan. Its card has NUDGE arrows (1″ / 3″ / 6″ / 1′ a tap) to walk it onto the spot. The same switch works in 📏 MEASURE.
6 · 📷 SNAP saves the current view as a picture — Downloads, or press-and-hold → Add to Photos.
7 · WHAT IS THIS? Cards name everything in plain English — TW/BW, TC/BC, R=, i=, (M.E.) all decoded. Mouse or Apple Pencil hover shows name + grade without tapping.
8 · 🛰️ GPS: shows your live position as a blue dot (allow Location). With the iPad's own GPS it's rough (±10–15'); pair an Apple-certified RTK receiver (Bad Elf Flex) and the same button reads in INCHES. Open any feature's card while GPS is on and the bar walks you to it — distance + go N/S/E/W. Position only — grades stay on the rod.
Zoom in for grade numbers and IDs. ⤢ fits the whole site. Works offline once loaded — add to Home Screen.
